Children Policy: Gedara Boutique Hotel & Retreats is designed for adults seeking rest, privacy, and a calm environment. We accept bookings from guests aged 18 (and accompanying children above 16 years) only. Please do not make a reservation if travelling with children (under 16 years of age), as check-in will not be allowed. If minors are present at check-in, entry will be refused and no refunds will be issued.

Room Rates: The room rate is on the basis of Bed & Breakfast, net of service charge, including all statutory levies. All additional expenses (private Yoga classes, group classes, food and beverages excluded from breakfast, etc.) are payable upfront for the service.

Cancellation policy: In case of the unfortunate event that you need to cancel your stay, please read the following policy.

Reservation types

Direct bookings: 

  • Flexible Rate - Free cancellation up to 30 days prior to arrival. If cancelled between 29–20 days prior, 75% of total booking will be retained. If cancelled 20 days or fewer prior to arrival, 100% of the booking will be retained.

  • Non-Refundable Rate (Discounted) - Full payment required at time of booking. This rate is non-refundable and cannot be amended.

  • All deposits relating to bookings made at special rates, for the ‘super peak’ season (20 December to 30 January), or retreats are non-refundable.

  • One free amendment to dates is allowed up to the free-cancellation cutoff/30 days prior arrival (subject to availability). Amendments inside the cutoff are treated as cancellations and are subject to the cancellation fees above.

For all bookings:

  • No shows : 100% cancellation fee.

  • Failure to arrive at the hotel or property will be treated as a No-Show and no refund will be given.

  • Early departures are charged in full for the originally booked nights unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Deposits & Payments:

  • For direct bookings: a 50% deposit is required to confirm the reservation for Flexible Rate; balance charged 30 days prior arrival. For Non-Refundable Rate the full amount is charged at the moment of the booking.

  • For group bookings (2- 4 rooms and for retreats), a 50% non-refundable deposit is required and different cancellation terms may apply - these will be confirmed at time of booking.

Force Majeure

  • In the event of extraordinary circumstances beyond our control (e.g., government travel restrictions, natural disasters), we will review each case individually and may offer a full or partial refund or re-booking credit at the hotel’s discretion.

We are an exclusive Boutique Hotel & Retreat space and depend highly on advance bookings hence we cannot be flexible with this policy.

Non-resident guest policy: To protect the privacy, comfort, and security of all our in-house guests, the following policies apply to all visitors who are not registered to stay at the hotel.

1. Visitor Registration

All non-resident guests must register at reception upon arrival and present valid identification. Visitors must be accompanied by a registered in-house guest at all times while on the property.

2. Visiting Hours & Overnight Stays

Non-resident visitors are welcome on the property between 9:00am and 9:00pm.
Non-resident guests are not permitted to stay overnight under any circumstances.
Any visitor wishing to remain beyond visiting hours must be registered as a paying hotel guest, subject to availability and applicable rates.

3. Use of Facilities

Non-resident guests may not use guest-only areas such as the garden or other private hotel spaces.
Access to the Shala is permitted only during scheduled drop-in classes, with payment of the applicable class fee.

Access to the restaurant is allowed only on designated open nights as advertised by the hotel and is subject to availability.

4. Conduct & Security

All visitors must adhere to hotel guidelines and respect the comfort and privacy of other guests. The hotel reserves the right to refuse entry or request any non-resident guest to leave if behavior is disruptive, inappropriate, or compromises safety.

5. Responsibility & Liability

The registered hotel guest is fully responsible for the behavior and actions of their visitors. The hotel accepts no liability for any loss, damage, or incidents involving non-resident guests.


Terms & Conditions

Quiet & Relaxation: To maintain a peaceful atmosphere, personal speakers are not permitted in shared spaces. Parties and events are not allowed. Quiet hours start at 10:00 PM.


Outside food & drink: Outside food and drinks are not allowed in shared areas. Please also avoid bringing cups or glasses from your room into common spaces.

Shala: By using the Shala, guests accept all responsibility for their health and any results, injury or mishaps that may affect their well-being or health in any way which may occur as a result of their practice or participation in any Gedara Ahangama Shala’s practices (Yoga, wellness activities, etc..).

Pool: The hotel does not have a lifeguard. Guests swim at their own risk. Smoking, glasses or porcelain plates, or other breakables are not permitted in the pool for health and safety reasons.

No smoking: Smoking is strictly prohibited indoors. Mosquito coils/incense are not allowed inside the rooms. A $500 fine applies in case of violation. Ashtrays are available in verandas and common areas for those who smoke, we kindly ask you to be respectful of others around you.

Parking: Parking is limited. We can accommodate bicycles and tuk-tuks at any time.

Pets: We're sorry, but currently we cannot accommodate your furry friend(s).

Belongings: The hotel cannot be held responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen personal items. Please use the safety locker provided in your room for any valuable items. It is the guests responsibility to hold the necessary insurance to cover any such theft, damage, injury during the stay or during any activities during the stay. If we find a "lost item", we will keep it safe for you and can ship items back (at your expense). Any lost items which are not claimed within 30 days, will be donated to a local charity or discarded.

Damage or theft: Guests are responsible for any damage caused during their stay. In case of damage or missing items discovered after departure, we reserve the right to charge the credit/debit card on file to cover repairs, replacements, or extra cleaning.

Right to refuse service: Gedara Boutique Hotel & Retreats is privately owned and operated. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason that does violate Sri Lankan law.

We enforce a zero-tolerance policy and may deny entry or remove guests (without refund) in the following cases:

  • Refusal or failure to pay

  • Intoxication or disorderly behaviour

  • Disruption of other guests’ peace

  • Illegal activities or possession of prohibited substances/weapons

  • Damage or threat to property

  • Exceeding room occupancy

  • Failure to comply with our policies or local regulations

Our goal is to ensure a peaceful and safe stay for all.

Liability: The hotel's liability shall be limited to wilful acts and gross negligence by its employees or agents. Therefore, we do not accept responsibility for any death, personal injury, damage or loss of personal belongings unless it is caused by any fault of ours, meaning failure by us to use reasonable skill and care in performing our duties.

Third Party Liability: The hotel does not accept any liability for services rendered by third parties to our guests, notwithstanding that such services may be arranged by us. Any claim, demand, charge, suit or damages which may be incurred by the guests shall be made directly with such third parties and the hotel shall render all reasonable assistance in this regard.
